20 Pounds Of Human Waste Dumped On San Fransisco Sidewalk

July 04, 2018

A 20-pound bag of human waste was abandoned at a corner in downtown San Francisco during the weekend.

People near the area complained of the awful stench brought about by the bag of human waste just tossed out onto the sidewalk. The big bags of poop were left in the city’s Tenderloin district.

The picture was first posted on Reddit where it went viral. It was on the San Francisco Citizen app for identifying crimes.

Reddit user green_street said: “Walked by this yesterday without knowing it had been a reported thing. Arguably the worst smell I’ve ever encountered. Plenty of things smell bad/weird/nasty, but the sheer stench of this was massive.”

According to a spokesman for San Francisco’s non-emergency customer service for governmental affairs, though human waste might be commonly seen around the city’s sidewalks, the large amount of excrement was unusual.

There has been no motive as to why the bags of poop were on the sidewalk during the weekend. It is also possible that some of the excrement may have leaked out of the bags and onto the curb.

One reddit user said that it was the most atrocious smell they’ve ever smelled in San Francisco, while another said that they commend whoever put it in the bag instead of just smearing it all over the sidewalk.

Though the perpetrator hasn’t been caught, authorities speculate that the waste was most likely left on the curb by people living in the city without housing or access to public restrooms.
