Golden Globes 2020 Nominations Announced And Once Again Women Directors Don't Exist
It's Golden Globes nomination day, which means a whole lot of butt-kissing, an eager need to be the primary Oscar precursor, and the occasional surprise. This year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association played it reasonably safe but gave us a few surprises now and then, from the nomination of Daniel Craig in Knives Out to the recognition for the women of Unbelievable. Still, this is a year defined by what they didn't do rather than what they did. Once again, no women are nominated for Best Director. Despite faring well in other categories, no foreign language film got nominated for Best Picture in either category. Cats only landed one nomination, even though we'd all assumed that movie would be pure Globes bait. And yes, it is another pretty white year, by and large.
