City Girls’ JT drops song about release from prison in real time

It’s not halfway bad!

Since music can be released digitally these days with the press of a button, artists are dropping singles to reveal up-to-the-moment updates on their personal lives — from Miley Cyrus’ divorce tune “Slide Away” to Ariana Grande’s breakup ode “Thank U, Next.”

This week, JT — part of the lesser-known Miami female rap duo City Girls, which has gained buzz for collaborating with Drake and Cardi B — added to the ripped-from-the-headlines music genre. After being released from prison this week, she put out a song called “JT First Day Out.”

The rapper turned herself in last year on credit card fraud charges. The song includes the lyrics: “Pulled in and out of prison like a drive-thru/Audemars waitin’ on me ’cause the time flew.”

She was sentenced to two years in a Florida jail, but is reportedly now serving the rest of her time at an Atlanta halfway house.
